Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Controller to lead the accounting function for one of its divisions. This role reports directly to the Division Controller and will oversee a well-established accounting team in a fast-paced, transaction-heavy environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong operational accounting experience, proven leadership skills, and the ability to partner effectively with non-accounting stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team
  • Manage the month-end close process and ensure timely financial reporting
  • Oversee divisional financial statements and accounting operations
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial information
  • Partner closely with operations and cross-functional business leaders
  • Review accounting transactions, reconciliations, and financial analyses
  • Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies
  • Maintain strong internal controls and accounting best practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Progressive accounting leadership experience
  • Strong operational accounting background
  • Experience managing accounting teams and developing staff
  • Ability to work in a highly transactional environment
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Hands-on management style with willingness to dive into detailed accounting issues

Preferred Experience

  • Multi-location or divisional accounting environments
  • Vendor management and B2B business operations
  • Leadership of month-end close and financial reporting processes
  • ERP experience; CDK experience is a plus but not required

Culture & Work Environment

  • Strong preference for 5 days per week onsite
  • Limited remote flexibility available when needed
  • Must be comfortable working closely with leadership and operational personnel
  • Ability to communicate accounting concepts effectively to non-financial stakeholders
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach with strong interpersonal skills
